Hey Guys!
This is my first time making a blog, so I'm kinda new at this! But, I'm excited about it! Now, some of you may be wondering why I chose the name that I did for my blog, and I will answer that question.
First I want to start by explaining what exactly an alabaster box is. In Biblical times, when a girl reached the age where she was available to marry, her family would buy her an alabaster box. The size of the box and the value of the ointment would reflect the wealth of her family. This box would then become part of her dowry. When a man came and asked for her hand in marriage, she would respond by taking the alabaster box and breaking it at his feet. This anointing of his feet showed him honor.
Matthew 14:3-9 and in Luke 7 tell about a woman who came and broke her alabaster jar at Jesus' feet. Showing honor to Jesus and showing that she was giving him everything. Christians need to follow this woman's example.
Now, you may say "What are you talking about? I don't even have an alabaster box." Well, you may not have a physical box, but you do have one figuratively. Your alabaster box is all of your hopes and dreams, everything that you have ever longed for. You need to take that alabaster box at the feet of Jesus, you need to give everything to him and trust him with every area of your life! Because he is an awesome God and is the only one who is worthy of such honor! Once you have broken that alabaster box, it will be reflected in the way that you live your life, you will have a reckless abandonment for Jesus Christ!
That is what this blog is going to be about. It is going to be about breaking that alabaster box and completely, recklessly abandoning yourself to Jesus Christ.
